With the weather gods finally on our side it couldn’t be anymore perfect. Saturday would see the running of the Sprintcars, Speedcars and Dirt Mods with 3 rounds of heats for each class it was definitely a race for sheep stations. The Sprintcar heats would see a total of four cars compete with heat wins from Dave Seckold and Darren Shaw. Without any issues the heats ran through perfectly and would set the scene for what was to be an exciting final, Once underway it was the V45 of Dave Seckold also the top qualifier in points to lead the field away. Unfortunately Anthony Capitano succumb to a part failure which was disappointing as his V13 machine was on rails all day. Dave Seckold would see out another winning result adding the Victorian Title of Sprintcars to his resume followed home in second place by Jason “Conrod “Patrick in his first full season of Sprintcars, and Third home was the ever consistent Darren Shaw in the V21 machine.
The Dirt Mods would see a total of 15 cars compete for the Victoria number 1. Fast paced racing would see heat winners, Dave Seckold, Josh Seckold, Anthony Capitano and Anthony De Maria. The action on track was set to be huge approaching the finals as the points between the top five was very close. The B main was to be decided and it was non other than the return racer of the V9 of Dayn Bentvelzen that took out the B main. The field was set for what was going to be an exciting A Main, with 30 laps on the board and the two TSR (Team Seckold Racing) cars starting off the front row. Dave would start out of pole position while son Josh would start out of 2. The pace was hectic from the start and would see plenty of passing on a smooth Little Avalon race track. Eventually the flag would fall on a great race and would see the V45 of Dave Seckold take out the honours of Vic 1, Josh Seckold coming home in 2nd and Anthony De Maria coming home 3rd in the V25 “Speed Wagon”.
The mighty Speedcars would put on some epic racing during the Saturday and it was none other than the V45 to be your top qualifier. With some great racing from the Speedcars and the three rounds of heats run and done the final was set to be a cracker, Josh Seckold was able to take out the Victoria number 1 closely followed home in 2nd was Anthony Capitano driving the V13 who was able to put the pressure on. Home in 3rd was Dave Seckold in the V45.
Sunday saw two classes run with the first being the heavy hitter Late Models followed by the ever popular Wingless category. With the super fast pace set by the Late Models it was the ever fast V44 of Josh Seckold taking out the top qualifier and also the Victoria 1. Home in 2nd was the V70 in his first Late Model outing of Paul Gottinger who showed that he will also be a future contender with the class and 3rd home was the V90 of Jason”conrod”Patrick.
The Wingless class was going to be exciting from the get go with it’s popularity growing fast the two rounds of heats would see wins from Anthony De Maria, Dave and Josh Seckold and also Darren Shaw. With the heat beaming down on the track and the heat rising with the racing it was none other than Josh Seckold taking out the top qualifier spot. The racing was intense as the number one position changed as many times as possible, Finally once the chequers dropped it was taken out by the V44 of Josh Seckold your new Victorian champ. Home in 2nd was the V45 of Dave Seckold and home in 3rd was V70 of Paul Gottinger who is certainly making some gains on the track with his performance.
All in all it was a great 2022 RCRA Victorian Championships. With car numbers slightly down the racing was hard and fast with everyone commenting on how great the weekend was.
